Comet
was fourteen years old when he passed away. He was one of the
greatest dogs you could ever have. He loved music, and cared for everyone.
He never bit anyone and understood many commands. Comet had a disease that
was making him lose a lot of weight and making him very weak. His back
legs did not work very well any more but it didn't slow him down, he was
still as playful as he could be. At times he would fall, but he would
scramble to get back up, though sometimes he needed help or just a little
boost. He loved car rides and whenever we went to Denver for soccer, we
would stay at a friend's house. They had a dog named Buddie, and when we
got a mile from the house Comet would stand up in the back of the car
knowing we were almost there! When we lost Comet it made a big impact on
our lives and those of a lot of the people that knew him, he will always
be in our hearts though.
When Comet was first adopted by my family I was not born yet, my mom and
sister chose to get Comet but took home his brother by accident. His
brother had harmed Comet by biting a piece of his ear and tongue out, so
as soon as my mom noticed they had the wrong dog, she worked very hard to
get Comet back. She knew Comet was the dog for us, and he most certainly
was. We have one picture where you can see Comet eating out of bowl next
to another bowl filled with mulch. The one with mulch is his bowl. He was
hungry and thirsty , but I was young and didn't know what I was doing and
I put mulch in Comet's bowl. He just decided to eat out of the cat's bowl
instead. He and our cat got along very well, they loved each other very
much. Comet never disturbed other dogs or cats or any animals. There is a
picture of him and Mojo (one of my rats). They loved each other a lot and
loved to be together, which isn't something you see often between rats and
dogs. Comet loved to hike, even when he had weak legs when he was old.
When we knew Comet didn't have long to live, we took him out to spend his
one of his last days in the snow because he loved it so much. Comet was a
truly an amazing dog. Everyone loved him, and everyone who knew him
remembers him. He is a dog that is impossible to replace or ever forget.
We truly love and miss Comet. Comet was so special to me and my family and
we love him dearly and always will.
