About Us
Stanley, the Dog of the Day
Name: Stanley
Age: Two years old
Gender: Male Breed: Basset Hound
Home: Englewood, Colorado, USA

We adopted Stanley from Colorado Basset Rescue. He was a stray found wandering the streets of Denver, and was initially adopted by another family whose older dog attacked him. He's four months old in these pictures, taken not long after we adopted him. We were pleased to have him after our previous beloved Basset Hound, Waldo, nearly thirteen, recently went to doggie heaven.

We worked on getting Stanley socialized and he was already learning to use a doggie door shortly after coming home. He quickly became the highlight of the neighborhood. His favorite activities are getting belly rubs, sitting in the sun, and following his new mom around the house and yard. Considering his background, he is very social and enjoys the company of people and other dogs. Stanley is still very thin, but in our house this problem will undoubtedly be corrected in the near future.

With increasing numbers of people losing their houses due to foreclosure, rescue organizations have been overwhelmed with dogs needing good homes. They can be a great resource for dog lovers.

Stanley is now two and is one of the most active basset hounds out there. He loves running and wrestling with the big dogs in the local off-leash park. Last summer, he and I climbed a Colorado mountain and we were even featured in the Denver Post.
