Molly
is just a sweet little girl. She loves people, small ones
especially! She doesn't do any tricks, she just brings a smile to everyone
she meets. Molly used to go to work with me and she would "take"
attendance by running up and down the faculty wing to make sure all the
professors were in their offices and ready for their day. Back in the
summer of 2009 she was invited to visit the Palliative/Hospice Care unit
in a local hospital where my sister was being cared for. She became an
unofficial therapy dog for the day and visited with all the patients on
the unit. She sensed that she was in a special place and acted accordingly
- sitting so very still while the patients petted her and kissed her
little head. It was an emotional experience for everyone and one that I
will never forget.
In 2009 Molly and I relocated upstate. She loves to check out all the
other dogs living in our apartment complex. Molly is a bit of a celebrity.
The local newspaper was running a special feature entitled "Best Pet in
the World" and Molly's picture was one of the first printed. I am
volunteering at the local humane society and see so many wonderful cats
and dogs that need a "forever home." When I come home from the shelter I
give Molly an extra hug and kiss to let her know how blessed I am to have
her in my life.
