This
is my sweet Abby. She just turned ten years old. She is a
Chihuahua/Schipperke mix and she lives with us in sunny Florida. Abby came
to us when she was just two weeks old. We got her from one of my husband's
employees who had the mom at home. The mom got real sick after having four
puppies and could not nurse due to a calcium deficiency. She asked if we
could help out by bottle feeding one of the puppies, and then when she was
old enough, we could give her back and she would find her a home.
Well, that was ten years ago... We really bonded and she is still with us.
It was a lot of work, but she turned out to be a wonderful dog. Abby is
very smart. She learns very quickly and really wants to please us. Since
we had her at such a young age, we had to teach her everything, including
eating out of a bowl and walking on a leash. She felt grass under her
feet for the first time when she was just four weeks old. She loves her
daddy very much and is most definitely a "Daddy's Girl.
Her favorite game is playing with her squeaky soccer ball and her baby
stuffed hedgehog. She can also get a treat out of her Kong in three minutes
or less. She also loves to go "walkies" and absolutely loves to go camping
with us. She has been on several long road trips and is a great little
traveler. She has her own "basket" on the back of my husbands bicycle and
loves to go bike riding with us. She definetely turns a lot of heads when
people see her ridng on the back of the bike. She is very protective of
us. This is her house and no one gets in without her approval. Don't let
her size fool you, she is an excellent watch dog and we always know when
someone is outside.
She is currently our only pet at this time. We lost our twelve-year-old
Siamese cat to kidney disease about a year ago. Abby misses her very much.
We love Abby dearly and couldn't imagine our lives without her.
