Dora
is a Rottweiler, she was born on June 7th, 2007. I was seventeen years old
and had just finished my last year of high school. It was midsummer and I
was working full time at a local Tim Horton's saving some money. I had
made plans to move out at the end of August in with my boyfriend. We
decided together that we wanted to get a puppy to keep both of us company
when the other one was away.
I had no preference to what breed I wanted so I had left the decision up
to him. He wanted to get a Rottweiler or a Doberman. I started going on
kijiji and had messaged a lady out in Binbrook who had a German Shepherd/
Rottweiler mix. We made an appointment to go view the puppy. After
visiting with the family and seeing the puppy, we decided that we would
rather go with a full breed rottweiler. Driving home that day down a
country road we scene a sign for rottweiler puppies. We wrote down the
number and called the next day.
We went back out the the country home about two days later to see the
puppies. As we got out of the car the male was in the yard and started
barking from his kennel. I was a little bit scared of the breed and this
left me feeling a little uncomfortable. As we knocked on the door the lady
approached with the mother and let all of the puppies out to come play out
front. After settling in for about a half an hour and playing with the
puppies we chose the biggest female. We named her Dora.
When my relationship did not work out Dora and I moved on our own. She has
been my best friend and companion, my shoulder when I need somewhere to
rest my head, and the best friend I could ask for. She helped me pull
through a lot of hard times well being so young, and the bond that we
share is inseparable. She changed my perception of the Rottweiler breed,
along with all of my friends and family members. She is living proof that
Rottweilers are loving, loyal, and hardworking. Though she may be stubborn
at times she is my best friend. I could not have made it through the last
four years without her! She is my heart.
