This
is Crosby, our Cockapoo rescue dog. My family and I drove five hours in
sleet and snow to get him. He is an absolute joy!
Crosby is a happy lovable little man or so he thinks. He struts his back
side with pride. He will chase anything that moves which brings me to my
next point. His favorite toys are a plastic hamburger and green porcupine.
When I say 'get your toy' he gets the toy. He stares at it until we
finally give in and throw it. He runs like a bandit which is actually
pretty funny because he has no traction on our fake wood floor and
inevitably will run into the wall in front of him. Crosby lets us cradle
him like a baby in fact he insists on it. He lays spread eagle, falls
asleep and stays until we need to get up. He loves the car and as many
dogs do, he sticks his head out the window despite the temperature. He
will lay in the back on my daughter's car seat, he fits nicely. Of course,
now we come to bed time. He sleeps in the bed with my husband and myself.
He gets as close as he can to my husband's arm and has one of his paws
resting over it.
Crosby got his name from the Captain of the Penguins Ice Hockey player,
Sydney Crosby. The family who gave him up live in a small town in
Pennsylvania called Vandergrift. Before we rescued him he lived in a
smoke-filled house with teenagers that were abusive to him. The day we
picked him up his hair on his head was blue in a Mohawk style. Luckily
with time the dye came out. He sits and raises his left paw for a treat or
when he gets his leash put on. We walk daily several times a day which he
never initiates but is always very excited when the time comes. Crosby has
given our family a sense of humor again. He now lives out in the country
in a small town in Maryland. Our address is Peaceful Pine Lane and that is
how we live.
