Everyone
meet our beloved, goofy clown! We learned of Dillinger when he was
about three months old, and just a few months after our first Pit Bull had
passed away. Not sure if we were ready for another dog yet, we went to meet
me him anyway. Upon arrival, we walked into a clean house, met two
polite/friendly adult Pit Bulls, and the man proceeded down to the basement.
He came back up with Dillinger, who was pleasantly plump but covered in dirt
and poo. Apparently one of the adult dogs didn't like the puppy, so the man
kept the him in the basement. Dillinger was afraid of us at first and ran
when I approached him. We took him outside into the grass and he acted
bizarre. This was the 1st time he had experienced grass (at three months old!).
We had concluded our visit, and I knew right away that I'd be back for him.
A few days later I went back for him! As I was leaving with Dilly in hand, I
asked the man what kind of puppy food he was using and he went on to tell me
that he would have given me a bag but he just ran out yesterday and that he
feeds him 80% raw meat anyway! He then wanted to give me the phone number for
his vet so I could get Dilly's ears cropped at a steal of a price, and that
I'd be making a "mint" off of Dillinger's offspring when I bred him! News
Flash: We have a vet that we've seen and trusted for years! I then went on to
tell the man that Dillinger will only be eating puppy food, that he'll be
keeping those beautiful ears and that Dilly will be neutered within the
month!!! How do ya like that!? The man looked at me like he was going to
snatch Dill back out of my hands, so I got in my car and headed right to
PetSmart to stock up on "baby" products.
Today Dillinger is a happy healthy boy. He lives with a seven-year-old
Rottweiler and two seven-year-old kitties, one of them being his best friend!
Dillinger enjoys car rides, swimming (although he hates a bath), stealing and
chewing on socks, peanut butter and napping with his people. He also likes to
playing with our neighbor's Pit Bull mix and our other neighbors Bichon
Frise. Dill loves meeting new people and other dogs. He's got a great sense
of humor, is extremely clumsy and keeps us laughing all day long! We're
looking forward to the next ten to fifteen years with this clown!
