Zander
is a Chocolate Labradoodle and he is one of the smartest dogs I
know but with all that clever use of his intelligence he still has managed
to act like a fool. For he may be smart but he is not wise yet. As most
puppies his age he is a home-wrecker going through toys like a kid with
their candy after Halloween. Countless times I've thrown out toy after toy
that was dismembered and strewn across the house.
As good-looking of a boy he is, he's more of a mud puppy as his favorite
game is to run through the biggest deepest mud puddle he can find, often
showing back up to the door chest deep in mud and soaked to the bone.
Although he is a puppy he has made many friends and his favorite is a
thirteen-week-old Golden Retriever named Henry. Henry is a diehard and just
loves to keep going back for more even when Zander has to sit it out
because he plays a little too rough for a puppy still only half his size.
However, he has four other housemates and one he is head-over-heels in love
with is our other labradoodle Sophie. Zander uses her as a pillow or a
couch; sitting on her is something he does when she won't let him have
what he wants.
Zander also has his moments of hitting what we like to call 'Hyper-space'
where he runs around the house and everything his runs past that moves he
huffs and growls trying to get it to chase him because most the time he
will have the noisiest toy he could dig out from the toy box which for
some reason always ends up everywhere else it shouldn't be. Since picking
out his own toys is kind of hard even when the basket is the toy he wants.
Zander is rather in love with our deaf cat's tail since on many occasions
he thinks its the best tug of war toy, however he's catching on that you
don't mess with the white ball of fluff we call Boss.
Zander is for the most part housebroke since I have got him trained to
ring his bells on the front door to let someone know he wants outside. If
just poking with his nose doesn't get his point across, he usually uses
his paws and smacks it and if that fails he just jump tackles the bells
and so far that works for him.
Just the other day we had a full car and he had the front seat to himself
and there was barely any room in the back of the car since it's a Mini
Cooper and he managed to squish himself up in the back and get
comfortable. How he managed to get in that spot still amazes me. He is the
most wonderful dog I know and I couldn't have asked for a better guy.
