Hurley
is believed to be an Australian Shepherd with the "Lethal White"
genetic combination. Luckily he has full sight and hearing which is usually
not the case with dogs that have the gene. I adopted him when he was three
months old from a shelter about four hours away from where I live in Texas. I
went to pick him up on Valentine's day of 2010, which ended up being a
lifesaving move for him because the next day he was scheduled to be
euthanized because he still hadn't found a home.
The moment they let him out of the kennel to meet me, he came skidding
around the corner and into the wall. I was in love at first sight. He grew
up with his very best friend Marley and hasn't spent a day without him. He
has the sweetest temperament and just wants to be loved and cuddled with all
the time. He follows me everywhere and refuses to let me out of his sight.
He can only relax after he knows I am safe and that I am not going anywhere
without him. I don't know where I would be without Hurley but I can say that
it was one of the best decisions I have made by going to get him that rainy
Valentine's Day.
