Vodou
should get dog of the day as he's an absolute sweetheart, he loves his
hugs and kisses and snuggling on the sofa, and is very clever. He picks up
tricks very quickly and loves to do anything for a treat :) To me hes special
because he is big bald and soppy :) He's a rare breed and one of the oldest
dog breeds, and you couldn't find a sweeter, more loving dog if you tried.
He's a very energetic boy who loves to play with a dummy (his friends are
gundogs!) or a frisbee. His favorite game being to bring it back, show you
and then run off with it, like as if to say "look what I've got, isn't it
great! ... you can't have it though, it's mine!"
He's a friendly boy who absolutely loves people, especially men, but can be a
little aloof with strangers initially, however this soon changes as soon as
they stroke him. He loves to curl up next to you on the sofa after a long run
and is very warm to the touch when he is asleep, like a big hot water bottle!
He knows the standard commands (sit, down, wait, off, come back, heel) as
well as paw, up/hugs (jump up and put his paws over your shoulders)
kisses/love (a gentle poke on the chin and a kiss if your lucky!) and touch
(poking your hand with his nose, its a good way to hold his attention if you
need to). He is very affectionate, more so with men, he is absolutely
besotted with my boyfriend!
He needs moisturizing and bathing every so often to keep his skin in good
condition but as he is black-skinned he doesn't need sun tan lotion, he just
naturally darkens up in the sun. The gene that controls the hairlessness is
also related to dentition, and hairless xolos are often missing teeth, Vodou
is missing a few molars and pre-molars so he does dribble a lot when he
drinks, but all in all hes not a 'drooly' dog otherwise. They usually have
errect ears but Vodou's never quiet got there, he's got ears like helicopter
propellers! I love him very much.
