I
am a wonderful dog with a great heart. I was a lab dog who was going to be
used to test a drug because the scientists thought I had too much white, but
before using an animal to test a drug, the lab puts it up for adoption to
see if anyone wants him/her. My owner had been begging her parents for a dog
ever since she could talk. Luckily her dad bought a dog right before it was
experimented on or euthanized. That dog was me, Patch!
Ever since then I have been the most loyal dog ever. I never bark or growl,
(except at an occasional squirrel hanging in my backyard). No matter what my
owners do to me I don't care, I listen to everything they say, and I let
anyone pet me. I hate water, the car and, of course the vet (but who
doesn't?). I get in the car when I'm told, even though I get car sick, I get
in a bath tub full of water when I'm told, and I walk right into the vets
office when I'm told (with my head down). When I tore a knee ligament I
couldn't go anywhere or chase after anything. I had to lay around resting
(which is really hard for a beagle because we are hunting dogs, we are
supposed to run!). Even though it was very hard, I did it. I am very
thoughtful, too. At night when everyone is sleeping, and I want to sleep
upstairs, I go up very quietly. I go slowly, one foot at a time. I am a
wonderful dog who cares about my family a lot. I might not be the toughest
dog around, but I sure am the sweetest and I know that I am loved!! That's
what makes me special!
