Meet
Penelope, though she just goes by "Peen." She is a special little six and a half
year old Pomchi (that's a Pomeranian Chihuahua mix), living by the beach in
San Diego, California.
Peen is a tough little ten-pound dog. We like to think she's a little tank.
When you see her outside, she trots like a big dog, and has the attitude to
go along with it. She is protective of her territory, but is the most gentle,
loving dog when with the people she loves. It takes time to get into her
"inner circle", but once in ... she shows how loyal and sweet she really is.
Peen is more independent when it comes to being around most dogs. She has
doggy friends, but she prefers they be smaller than her. Peen is very sweet,
nurturing, and calm when it comes to being around her parents. She likes to
be close to us while she sleeps; she likes to spoon a leg. And she is an
expert at burrowing deep into a bed or blanket.
As far as tricks goes - she is trained to stay in a sitting position in the
same spot every day while her food is being poured. She won't move one paw
until she gets the "good girl" command. (She will sit and lay down on instant
command; and will also not move until she hears "good girl"). She absolutely
loves her mini pink tennis ball. Peen loves sprinting after her ball all
around our apartment after it's thrown - her paws making the scrambling sound
on the hardwood floor. And she never fails to bring her ball right back and
drop it in front of the thrower for more. As for hobbies, she loves riding in
my basket on the front of my bike, cruising up and down the boardwalk and
getting plenty of attention from the surrounding beachgoers. She loves the
sun in general, just laying on our deck sunbathing on hot days: she's a true
California girl!
