Introducing
Lola the Leonberger! She is a huge, lovable, sweet and beautiful
girl. She loves snow and will stay out for hours. While other dogs beg to be
let back in the moment their paws touch snow, Lola loves it! Last week we had
a big snow storm and I couldn't find her. When I called for her, she poked
her head up - what I thought was another snowbank was Lola!.
Lola loves people and kids. She is very gentle around children and old
people, like she knows they are fragile. We play a game where she hides
behind a tree and I have to find her. If course you can see her because she
is so big, but when I get close she takes off running to another tree. It is
a hoot. She shops with me and will wait patiently outside the door and watch
my every move.
Her best friend is Shadow an English Shepherd and they play every morning,
she's not very good at playing ball, but she will catch it then run away with
it. She loves to sit out on the front yard for hours and watch the world go
by. She will sit for any treat.
She is my third Leonberger in thirteen years and they are all wonderful. Her sister
died peacefully in her sleep last year at twelve years old. She is so smart and
as good as she is beautiful. Her brother, Leo, unfortunately died of cancer.
Her Border Collie brother, being a typical crazy Border, drives her crazy but
she is always calm and patient with him. She has walked in several dog rescue
walks. She loves to swim. We live near a big pond and she swims every morning
and evening. Not even the geese are afraid of her. They all just swim around
as if she's not there. We have a beaver in the pond which she will chase for
hours and she can never quite figure out where he went when he goes under
water then reappears at the other end!
She lives with two other dogs and six cats and loves them all. She is a gentle
giant and a real sweetheart, despite all her silly ways! She also is very
patient with me when I have her pose for photos, which is great for me. We love her!
