Hi,
I'd like to introduce my dog Dora. We had a house fire last year, and I
lost all my pets, including our dog Bailey. I missed her very much, I still
do. I was very depressed. It was a while before we moved back into our house.
I got a cat first, but I still wanted a dog.
My dad asked me what I'd like for Christmas, and I said "a dog." I didn't
think he'd actually buy me a dog, but he said, "Let's go to the humane
society and check them out." So we did. I thought I had fallen in love with a
Boxer mix named Babe, because for some reason I had my heart set on getting a
Boxer. Dad said I could pick the dog and he'd pay for it, if was okay with
mom. But he said "NO Pit Bulls." So the next day on Sunday, I got my mom and
brother to go with me to the humane society.
We went straight to look at the dogs. I still had my heart set on Babe. I
thought I couldn't get Dora because she was part pit. We got to be introduced
to three dogs, and Dora was the last of the three. She had just the right
amount of energy for our family. Dad and I came back for Dora on Tuesday
after work. My dad was amazed at how gentle she was. So I got a dog a little before Christmas.
She has really bonded to me. The cat still does not like her. She is going to
obedience training at the shelter. Training is free and a must when adopting
a Pit Bull from the shelter. It is a good thing, so anyone who adopts a pit
bull gets to learn how to teach them, and help use up that terrier energy in
a good way! Dora is my dog but we all love her.
