My
dog was rescued from a rescue center for Aussies when he was two years old.
His first owner would tie him to a tree outside because the girlfriend had
dogs and she didn't like Dylan even though he loves all small dogs like her's
were. Now if anyone pulls to hard on his neck when taking a walk with a
leash, you can see he doesn't like it. After having him for a few months he
somehow became my dog, not a family pet. I was only about seven years old so this
was a huge jump for me! One day he even actually showed up at my school
because he remembered the roads!
Having a dog is a ton of fun when you live on a farm because you can run for
hours! When I take my pony on trail rides he will always come. Speaking of
horses, every year we go to WEF which is a big horse show in Florida that lasts
two to three months (events recur every day). Last year I was really into jumping on
foot so I tried jumping Dylan ... he wouldn't look at a stick on the ground,
but over the next three months he was jumping 3 foot 6 inches (107 cm) with me at his side!
I then decided I wanted him to be an agility dog. With many months of effort
we never actually took him to a show, because he wouldn't know how to touch
the mats or go through tunnels and for him to win, I would need a bigger
stride myself. So I am still training him and he can jump almost 4 foot 3
inches (130 cm) maybe even 4 foot 6 (137 cm). After his agility didn't work out, I decided he
should be a therapeutic hospital dog which he will be. If he does dog
competitions in the future it will be for jumping in height. He still amazes
me every day with a new trick! Speaking of tricks, he can sit, shake, hug,
lie down, dance, come on command, jump from a stand still, and partially roll
over (all which I taught him). Dylan is a wonderful companion who happens to be amazing!!!
