Joey
came into my life from the streets of Santa Ana. He was found starving
to death by a rescue agency but quickly recovered thanks to nice portions of
the best dog food money can buy. He is very independent and always wants to
be first when walking with other dogs. He is extremely protective of his
owner (me) and extremely loyal.
Because of his dachshund heritage, he had to have spinal surgery to repair a
bulging disc and there was some danger that he wouldn't recover. But now (four
months later) all four legs work, and he runs and hops ecstatically, enjoys
walks at the beach, loves socializing with small dogs (large dogs need not
apply), and is the life of the party. Joey is a survivor with a hope of many
more productive years.
