Jewel
is a kind of dog that make you laugh, she has a very beautiful coat and
her loyalty is amazing. Jewel was a rescue, her owner abandoned her but this
beauty isn't a dog to wait long. Jewel is training to be an obedience
companion and go to shows. Her pretty looks aren't everything, her agile
temperament, loyalty, and kindness is what this rough collie is about.
Jewel was only six weeks when I got her, as I said, she was abandoned by her
prior owner. When we got her home, it was July 20, 2009. Jewel was very
playful in the kennel, and barked a little to much for the other adopters.
But when I saw Jewel, she was the perfect little gal. The first step into the
house was a step of joy for Jewel! She was getting uses to her new territory
and her "staff." We had another collie named Jordana. Jewel and Jordana
became a pair. They did everything Together, until the next year.
Jordana passed away and that's when Jewel become quiet and shy, being the
only dog in the house was hard. Jewel wasn't herself for a year. Even when we
got Shiloh, another collie, the next month. Jewel wasn't impressed with
Shiloh, and Shiloh wasn't impressed with Jewel, either. On March 1, 2011, we
heard that there were rough collie puppies at the Humane Society. When we got
to the shelter, there was only one pup left. a beautiful girl named Daisy.
Jewel began getting better and better with Daisy around, and that's when
Jewel's career started. Just ten days later, we took Jewel to the dog park
where she and Daisy could play, (Shiloh was getting spayed.) It amazing, I
was on my iPhone when Jewel started doing the agility obstacles, and Daisy
got my attention. That's when I begin teaching Jewel her cool tricks.
Later that year I went back to Ontario. Daisy was so happy to finally have a
huge yard, and Jewel was excited to go hiking. The sandy beach close to the
Great Lakes was real start of Jewel's career. That's when Jewel finally
discovered her vocation. We brought a paddle board, and Jewel jumped on it
and started standing on it, and nothing could get her down! Jewel learned she
is a great natural balancer and now it is her favorite thing ever!
