We foster for a number of dog rescue groups and Noupy, pronounced Newpee, came to our home in 2010 when he was removed from a home during
a CAS case. When Noupy first arrived, he was terrified and for weeks hid under the furniture and tried to make himself invisible. He would bark frantically
and try to escape when approached. We gave him lots of space and talked to him in gentle soft tones of encouragement.
Gradually he started to come out of his hiding spots and include himself in our activities, usually from afar, but we were encouraged that he was showing interest. He was more afraid of men than women. Eventually Noupy learned to trust and was available for adoption.
Our family was torn. We had worked so much with him that the thought of him being placed was difficult for us. We contacted the rescue (he had two families interested in him) and told them that we would like to adopt him as our own. Fortunately, the rescue agreed and Noupy has been a valued and much loved member of our family ever since.
Today Noupy is a new dog. He is happy and has the customary Pom-perma-smile on his face. He absolutely loves his chew toys and he is rarely seen without one in his mouth. He will place it in on your lap hoping you will try to take it from him. This is his favourite game. He is always at my side and at night sleeps at the base of the bed. He loves to snuggle under the covers! My brother visited and could not believe the change in Noupy...from shy and scared to social and friendly.
Even though he was once abused, Noupy's spirit was not broken. He is a fun loving special little guy who just wants to please. There are so many dogs in need. Please read Noupy's story and before you shop, do consider adopting. You won't be disappointed.
