Abby is like a little person! She has a sweet disposition, loves everyone, gives hugs and kisses. She never has accidents, and is there to comfort us if a family member is not feeling well, emotionally or physically. If we raise our voice, she barks; she thinks it’s an argument and disapproves. She is a fluffy bundle of joy and brings happiness to everyone she meets.
A Mi-Ki (pronounced me-kee) is a recognized breed, started in Indiana in 1981 according to some people, others believe it originated in Asia. Abby's breed's ancestry is at least Maltese, Japanese Chin, and Papillion.
If you are curious, Animal Planet has a segment on Mi-Kis that you can find on You Tube. They are considered a rare breed. We drove eight hours to Abilene, Texas to get her, and yesterday I was reading the ads in Dog Fancy magazine and there were a few for Mi-Ki's. I saw one in an airport a few years ago, and my Persian had recently passed away. Funny enough, Abby is very cat-like! She is not a miniature - I believe they can weigh up to six or seven pounds, but she was the runt ofher litter. She weighed just one pound at three months! We love every ounce of her!
