Shortly after losing a very special little dog, I came across a rescue website showcasing a 10-pound dog that had been thrown from a moving car. The little dog had landed in a trash heap. A nearby farmer tending to his fields saw the incident happen and thought someone had actually thrown a paper bag out of the window of the car. Then he heard the crying of the small dog painfully ripped open by barbed wire and broken glass. God bless the farmer who chose to save the little dog by taking it to a local veterinarian. She was stitched up with over 50 stitches, and it was determined she was pregnant. The veterinarian had to terminate her pregnancy because she was so badly injured.
It was then that the rescue site decided to help her find a better home. I have had ChaCha for about eight years now. She still bears the scars on her head and left side of her body from that horrible mistreatment but hopefully the painful memory has been replaced by the love she has known during these happy quiet years in my home.
