This is our little Lexie who lost her battle with Renal failure on August 16, 2006. We saved her from the shelter February 9, 1996. She was all of three pounds and full of attitude, so we guessed she was born around New Years that year. She had ten wonderful years with her human Mom and Dad and two doggie siblings in West Milford, WV. We never knew what breeds were mixed to make such a beautiful, smart dog. We guessed border collie/sheltie/terrier. She had a beautiful white curled up tail that she always carried high and proud. She soon took over our house and hearts. It was Lexie who would come into the living room between nine and nine-thirty each night to make sure her mommie went to bed.
Lexie was cremated. We placed part of her ashes under a tree in the park she loved so much. Watters Smith State Park was her favorite place in the world, no matter how sick or weak, she would always find the strength to go for the nighty walk. Sunday, August 12 was her last walk and I had to carry her one third of the way. We thought more IV fluids would perk her up again, but instead she went to the Rainbow Bridge. We were thankful that the IV fluids did give her a good extra six weeks with us. A piece of our hearts went with that little black and white girl.
