Hi, my name is Charlie and I'm the newest member of a large dog family. Mom wasn't planning on any more dogs but her friend, Erin, volunteers at the Huntsville Animal Services. When I was brought in, Erin thought I was special. She was so right! She sent Mom a picture of me smiling. Mom was hooked. Part of what makes me special is I am an eight-year-old senior. Mom is also a senior. No more puppies that could outlive her.
The next morning Mom was at the shelter before it opened, waiting to take me home. They called me Lucas, which is a nice name, but Mom said I'm a happy dog, and should have a happy name. Charlie is a happy name.
The ride home went well. I was then introduced to my new family. I now have eight sisters which are all about my size. I also have a big brother, Bear. He stays by himself because he plays a little too rough.
I found the food and water dishes. There is always food in the dishes. I also discovered the air conditioner vent. That is necessary for these hot August days in Alabama. Suzy loves me and goes with me everywhere.
Mom takes three of us for a walk every morning. We have a lot of fun. Then we spend the afternoon relaxing and watching TV. This is a good place to spend my golden years. Plenty of food, friends, and most of all LOVE.
