Codi is not entirely unhappy being a dog but she does her best to let the family know that she has feelings but lacks the words to express them. Her breed is not entirely clear and to be honest, her exact age isn't either, but she's about three years old.
One of my friends told me to get her. He said that Codi was, in his words, probably a "human in a past life." I'm not entirely sure of the past lives thing, but she has an uncanny connection to everybody's hearts. My wife got her from Austin Pet's Alive, a no-kill shelter. I was opposed. Now, Codi is perhaps the most important member of the family. In fact, when I get out of bed, she crawls under the covers, stretches out, and puts her head on MY pillow. Our little bed has gotten quite crowded. But what's a guy to do?
Codi is the expression of pure joy. She is impressively strong but is feather gentle. Everybody who meets her comments on how lovely she is. She is sweetness defined and playfully submissive to our other, older also-adopted Catahoula.
Codi's favorite game is is to steal plastic or a box out of the recycling and tear it into tiny pieces. The funny thing is that she know's she's not supposed to do it because she is totally impish when we call her on it, but if we try to take the trash away, she runs around the house, over and under any tables, chairs, or whatever. There's simply no way to win with the possible exception of offering her something aromatic and yummy.
It's funny; initially Codi seemed aloof - friendly but aloof - but now she is a total lover, near pathologically affectionate. We joke around that she's a bit promiscuous in her affection toward whoever will show her love and a warm place to sit. She is a doll.
