Perry and I met at The Westside German Shepherd Rescue when I was a volunteer. He is a German Shepherd mixand extremely handsome. He was a cranky guy and for good reason. The rescue had saved him from a high kill shelter just in the nick of time. Perry was not considered adoptable because he had a partially deflated lung and had had a broken sternum. His vet at the rescue determined he had been in a car accident and was thrown against the dashboard.
We bonded immediately; it became personal the morning one of the kennel staff told me "Perry is waiting for you." Initially I was going to find him a home. Ha! It took two days to coax him into my car. He now loves car rides. One thing led to another; he became my foster. He knew he was never leaving. We got special permission to let him live in my apartment and made it official. It is five years later. He sees his same vet and she is so happy with his lung's improvement. I am elated.
He is the best thing to have come into my life. A little over-indulged possibly; smart as they come; he has me very well trained and I love every minute with him.
