We adopted Brody (then named Buddy) from the local shelter when he was seven years old. In his younger days, he was full of life, loved to play and to stay close no matter what we were doing. With a doggie bed in most rooms, when things got boring he, would use the time to take quick nap. He made it very clear, from the day we brought him home, that he would be sleeping with us at night.
As a Florida dog, no day is too hot for a nap in the sun. His greatest joy, however, has always been going for a walk and we took several long ones each day. Being the boss, he would choose which direction we were heading.
At the age of twenty, he continues to insist on at least one good walk a day, although the pace is very, very slow. The rest of the day he spends close by, quietly sleeping and waiting for dinner or his next doggie treat. We love him very much.
