Pumpernickel is of German and Mexican breeds descent, born and raised in Oklahoma, by her owners, and her mother (Baby Girl) who was chihuahua and her father (Rodney) who was a long haired dapple dachshund. Sadly both her parents have passed away now. When I first saw her I said, "You look like a loaf of Pumpernickel bread," and the name stuck!
Pumpernickel loves to always be happy, playful, sassy and bossy. She has a very short attention span. She has her own full size bed with a purple flowery comforter, it used to be her owners' but she has taken it over, because she loves the color purple she knows it brings out her silver splotches of dapple and big brown puppy dog eyes really well.
She loves squeaking her toys when she thinks her owner is watching television. She loves dancing, running, jumping and playing catch, she thinks she's the biggest dog in town. She loves running through the garden and stealing potatoes. She also enjoys watching "the Andy Griffith Show."
She has an adopted big brother named Jack whom she adores, and makes sure he knows she's much bigger than him even though he's a German Shepherd. But they love each other very much, and she loves giving him kisses.
Even though she is the youngest of all of our dogs, she thinks she can boss anyone around, especially her best friend and aunt Lulu. She loves being an alarm clock for her owner, getting lots of kisses, sitting in her owner's lap and sleeping.
