Booter Bear is a Red Heeler as his breed is nicknamed, and he is a really loving, protective, family-oriented dog. His many nicknames include Boots, Beepers, Pooh Bear, and baby boy. He loves his family dearly and doesn't like strangers near us. When someone walks into our house he is very leery of them until he knows we feel comfortable around them. He loves to swim and play in the water. When we take the boat out fishing he jumps out and swims around us and when we are running the big motor tries to bite the water that is splashing up on the sides. The kids love playing with him and hanging on him, and he loves it too. He loves attention and loves to play fetch. He would play fetch for hours if I could throw the ball that long. He seems to always be on the go, we can never get him to lay down more than a few minutes unless he has his baby, which is a big stuffed animal that he likes to suck on.
Booter Bear is definitely a mommy's boy. He always follows me around the house, and he doesn't like when I am out of his sight. He also always falls to his back for me because he wants his belly scratched and is always up against my side. When we come home he is always jumping up and around because he is so excited to see us. When we are sitting at the table or getting ready in the bathroom he will sit up on the chair and toilet like he is a person waiting for you. He is also very very smart, he knows how to sit, lay down, stay, shake, and he also will not eat his food until we tell him too. Booter Bear can also be very stubborn when he wants to be. For example when it is time for him to get into his crate, he will run and try to sink into the couch as far as he can. We also have another Australian Cattle Dog (a Blue Heeler) and they get along great. They love to play fight with each other. Even though he can be stubborn and crazy at times, we definitely couldn't ask for a better dog.
