When I was in third grade, my family's beloved English bulldog, Edgar died. He was an astounding twelve years of age, which is impressive for a bulldog. Two years later, after lots and lots of begging on my brother and my part, we started to look for another dog. Eventually, we found a beautiful Golden Doodle, and went to look at him.
This dog was not interested in any of us whatsoever, but the woman we went to buy him from offered to let us look at her other doodles. Pax, then named Bentley, rushed from his crate, tail wagging, and ran straight to me, where he flopped down in my lap, smiling. I told my mom that, "The wand chooses the wizard." And eventually, both she and my dad agreed, and we drove home with the dog.
At first, we named him Slash after the guy from Guns and Roses, but we decided he was no Slash, and I named him Pax, after the book. He is the first labradoodle my family has had, and the second dog. Pax is a big ball dog, he'll tear after balls like it is his sole purpose in life, and quite literally fall head over heels to grab it. I've taught him to sit, stay, lay down, shake my hand, give me a high-five, and roll over. He's the most affectionate dog out there, in the mornings he will run up the stairs to greet you, and lay down in your lap for a cuddle.
We love you Pax, and hope for many, many more years to come with you!
