Max is the most handsome and "goodest" boy we could ever ask for. We got him when he was eight weeks old, and he is our first family dog. He blessed us from the moment he arrived in our home.
Our daughter, who was 11 at the time, was left in charge of training him. Miraculously, she did an incredible job! Not only does he know the basic tricks, but he also knows the name of every family member, and can point them out on command.
He's been through one move, extensive home renovations, a house fire and a chronic illness. When he was two years old, we noticed a drastic weight loss and abnormal lethargic behavior. After months and months of trying to understand what was wrong with him, he was finally diagnosed with EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency) - essentially, he can't digest his own food. After many trial and errors with different medications, we found the perfect combination. Our vet told us that even despite this, he likely wouldn't live past five years of age. He proved all them wrong.
Max is now ten and a half years old, living it up every single day. His main job is guarding the house, and his favorite snacks include DentaStix® and snow (which is good considering we live in Canada). He believes that our entire street belongs to him, and the second someone walks on it, our home is filled with his thunderous barking - but he could never hurt a fly.
Max makes us smile every single day, and lights up every room he walks into. We are forever grateful for having him as our dog, and for the impact he has made on our hearts.
We love you Max.
