I adopted Atticus from a shelter in Spokane, Washington on March 24th, 2017. I am a college student and have a busy life, for a long time as much as I adored dogs I felt I couldn't have one of my own. My life was very mundane and I ended up in a very low place mentally. Counseling and medication only went so far before I decided I needed a partner to help me through. Atticus was the answer.
Though not a service dog, Atticus is trained to do in home tasks like distractions from panic attacks, deep pressure therapy and more to help me cope with my mental illnesses. He is currently going through training for nose work, as I will be graduating soon with a Wildlife Ecology degree and plan to use him to find scat in the field!
