Introducing my girl Layla, also known as Layla the Love Dog.
Layla is my first dog as an adult. I found her at Sean Casey Animal Rescue in Brooklyn and hadn't researched the breeds but she just called to me. She's incredibly sweet and affectionate, good with people, and loves to be petted. She rears up on her back two legs and leans politely on new friends asking to be petted. Rather than getting her paws on her new friends, she leans in with the side of her body and nuzzles them.
As a hound, Layla is very vocal - with different barks and whines for different needs which makes her a pleasure to have in the house. If she needs to go out she makes that clear. If she wants to play she makes that clear too. If we tell her no, she sits and looks sweetly at me until I change my mind. Her best friend is a soft coated Irish Wheaton Terrier and they're inseparable. She loves long walks - the longer the better - and going off leash in McCarren and Central parks. Every morning we walk between an hour and two hours and train throughout. She's the best thing that's happened to me in many years - she's just a wonderful dog.
