My showgirl name was long and elegant but my people who adopted me named me "Truly" and my Mom always says "I love you Truly, Truly" and I am a happy dog.
The adjustment to my new home was a little difficult, however. When my people opened my crate outside for the first time, I ran right into the swimming pool and sank. My mom had to jump in with her good clothes on to fish me out. Then the next day I did the same thing when they took me outside in the yard. What did I know about pools!! But I learned to watch where I am running and even learned to swim. I am not only beautiful, but smart.
My first walks with my new family were long and hard. I walked a whole block to a cul de sac and I looked everywhere for the judges so we could get our ribbons and go home. " That was the longest show ring I ever saw," I thought. But we just turned around and walked some more. I had to learn to walk up and down stairs and my Mom got me ramps to help me be independent. Now I have gotten way stronger so I can run up and down whenever I want, so I go in and out all day long.
I also have beautiful clothes. Mom bought me a Chanel inspired jacket with a white fur collar and a pearl buckle for one of my outings and everyone raved about how stylish I am. I have tee shirts and party dresses and costumes and nice warm flannel pajamas.
When we moved to Florida, however, I got a short hair cut and I look really cute. The photographer liked it so much she put me on her website and I am a poster dog!! Everyone thinks I am beautiful. People want to pet me and I allow it but inside I am thinking, "please don't put your sticky hands on me," and I really don't like children to touch me. You just can't trust them. (There are no children judges in the show ring for a reason, I think.)
My favorite things are laying in my pup tent thinking about how lucky I am to get to retire from show to such a loving family, and getting treats.
