Merlin is currently tipping the scales at 85 pounds, but is anything but fat. He loves playing ball, going for walks, and riding in the car. He typically has to be in the same room as me at all times unless he is outside "guarding" the house. He has moved quite a few times in his short life but it only takes him a couple of days to settle into his new environment. At the end of the day, he is happy as long as he is with his "mommy".
Last year Merlin ruptured a tendon in one of his rear legs. After surgery and two months of bed rest and reduced activity, he bounced right back. Now that the hair is all grown back, you can hardly tell that anything was wrong with him as he doesn't even limp. I couldn't imagine if anything else ever happened to him, he is the center of my universe and I love spending every minute with him.
Right now, Merlin is proudly helping me foster dogs, getting them ready for adoptive houses. He is really great with dogs of all ages although he prefers bigger breeds. The only problem that arises is if the foster dog is messing with his cat. He won't stand for it. The cat is his and only he is allowed to play with him. He takes everything in stride and seems happy to have his "mommy" back all to himself when the foster gets adopted. Eventually I plan to get him a permanent companion, but until then we both enjoy our temporary house guests.
