I would like to introduce my dog Penny. She is a ten-year old wire-hair dachshund and she lives in a town (Potchefstroom) in the North-West province of South Africa.
I got Penny after my 12-year-old dachshund Sophie died. My other dachsie was so sad, we had to rush to get a new dog. I found her at a breeder. She was five months old, and because she was a smooth-hair/wire-hair mix the breeder couldn't register her. I am so glad I "rescued" her, it felt like the dogs were only there for financial gain.
Penny is a loveable, friendly dog. She loves my children, other dogs and even cats. She loves to sleep under the covers (licking my toes!) and going for her daily walks. Even though my dachshunds all have or had back problems, I will always be a fan. They are wonderful family pets and are part of my family.
