I had no intention of getting any dogs because I was just about to begin school at the University of Washington. However, my boyfriend and I had recently broken up, and my sister wanted a Yorkie. The breeder called me and told me that she had two brothers available if I wanted to buy them. My mom convinced me it would be good for me to buy one of the puppies for my sister and to keep the other for myself. Thus Romeo came to the family. Romeo has always been a character. Although he was given a countless amount of toys as a puppy he chose a toy cow that became his one and favorite toy. The word "cow" is part of his vocabulary and if you speak about his cow he will quickly come to you to make sure you're not playing with his toy without him around. He loves "Beggin Strips" and thus that word is now part of his vocabulary too. If you say the word Beggin he will immediately become excited and start jumping on your lap until you give him one. However, once he receives the "Beggin Strip" he will lay over it and wait for you to come and pretend to take it for him because he loves to play. If you fail to pretend to tease him about taking it he will approach you with the treat in his mouth and start growling and wagging his tail. Not only is he very smart and very cute, but he is also very sweet. He loves snuggling underneath the blankets to ensure that he is keeping you warm and you are keeping him warm.
Last July my current boyfriend and I decided Romeo needed a friend, and I had always wanted two yorkies named Romeo and Juliet. I called the breeder and she had a little girl available. When we went and picked Juliet up Romeo was less than pleased. The little girl wanted to be his friend, but he felt as if we replaced him. For about a week Romeo would not sleep in our bed because Juliet was there and if they were climbing stairs he could not even be on the same stair as she was. However, fastforward a few months and the two are the best of friends. They snuggle together, play together and love each other. Juliet is still a puppy and so she still enjoys picking up anything she can possibly find in her mouth, but she is learning a lot from Romeo. She already knows the words "outside" "beggin" "cow" "squirrel" and a few more because Romeo has taught her well. She loves to LICK everything including Romeo. Romeo is not a huge fan of her licking his face, but he tolerates the loving. Juliet LOVES people and will attempt to approach anyone on the street to say hi. She and Romeo love wrestling over toys together. We will throw one toy and they will both race down the hall to see who can get it first and then it turns into a wrestling match. All in all I think our little family is complete and Romeo and Juliet know they are the stars of the show.
