All rescue dogs are special and my Lucy Lou is no exception. She came from a horrible life in a rural poor part of my state. She was a street dog and ended up in a high kill shelter. Somehow the great people at Animal Care Society (www.animalcaresociety.org) got her and brought her here. She was pregnant and not a year old yet. When I saw her picture I was so drawn to her. I had just lost my beloved Sheep-Bernard Sadie and really didn't think I could stand to love another dog. Something about Lucy just made me keep going back.
She is thriving now. I am ever entertained by her crazy terrier busy life. She is the most loving dog I've ever had. She is smart and funny and loves all other dogs. Due to her early life we have had to work hard together to get to where we are now but it is so worth saving a dog's life. My dog Lucy Lou saved my life too.
