Sabbath is my personal service dog in training. Sabbath fetches inhalers, medications, his own bowl, carries items for anyone who asks, including blankets. He also cleans up the house by picking up cloths, towels, cups, bowls, and now in training for putting recyclables in a basket. He's extremely smart, with the need to please and show off what he can do.
He is named after Black Sabbath, as they are my favorite rock band. He's my first Shepherd, but I have had experence in the past with huskies. I went on Craigslist looking through the German Shepherd pups, curious about what was nearby. Then suddenly, I saw him. you could say love at first sight! I was picky though, I wanted to make sure what I was getting my hands into so I did my research. I have a messed-up hip, my knee had surgery and I have very bad asthma. So, you could say I was looking for a service dog. He helps out a lot, and he's just the sweetest thing there is.
His personality I would say is very loyal. When someone comes up he greets them but makes sure they don't harm me. One guy was very drunk, and just walked up randomly. Now Sabbath never bit or barked at anyone before that day, but he barked as a warning. So now I know he's very protective and watchful. He knows when I need my inhaler, and he's very helpful around the house. We do a secret knuckle touch instead shake hands/paws. He is both an affectionate and independent type.
He has a ton of toys to wrestle and play with. His favorites I'd say are a tennis ball, his shark plushie, and frisbees. Since he's been doing extremely well with his training, I am fixing to buy him the service dog gear with his choice of toys at the local pet store when he turns seven months old on the ninth of next month. He is not the only pet around here, so he gets along with all kinds of animals. I have two cats, a Russian blue and a Japanese bobtail, and I and can't forget to mention the three-foot iguana. Sabbath gets along with all of them, he is a very special dog.
