Tillie, the Dog of the Day
Name: Tillie
Age: Eight months old
Gender: Female Breed: Schipperke,
Chow, German Shepard
Home: Frederick, Maryland, USA

Tillie is the new spitfire to our family. Our dog Tara, passed away last May 31st after fifteen years. So we went to a rescue site to find a new puppy. My mom found Tillie, who's name was currently Midnight, and knew that that was our dog, we just had to have her. Before she was rescued, she was used as a paintball target, and was found covered in orange paint. She has been nothing but an absolute joy since she joined our family last Christmas Eve. I came home from my job at Petsmart and saw her in the kitchen. I was with her all night. I played with her until she was tired, laid down on the floor and let her fall asleep on top of me.

She is brilliant, she is one of the smartest dogs I've ever seen and sometimes it's too much for her own good. We are very impressed with how much she loves people after being treated the way she was. There are certain things she is skittish about, but she has so much personality that anyone who comes into contact with her can't help but love her, even people who hate dogs. I use to think Tara was the only dog I could ever love but I found that that was very, very false when we adopted this puppy. She has been nothing but perfect and I couldn't ask for more.

She definitely stands out when we take her into Petsmart. People don't say "you're dog is so cute" or "she's gorgeous", they say, "wow, she's neat-looking and sweet". We had no clue what she was, but her tongue is pretty black, so we know she has chow, and her hair is fluffing in some areas but staying short in others, and by the ears and face, we know there's german shepherd in her; and we just recently found out about Schipperkes. That is her exactly. She is a neat dog. We love her very, very much. She didn't replace Tara, she's just doing a very good job of succeeding her.
