Since
the very first day we saw Xena with her sisters and parents we knew she
would be such an awesome addition to our family. We named her "Xena Schatzi"
which means sweetheart in German. She is always so happy and absolutely loves
belly rubs at any point of the day and doesn't let you stop until she is
content. She also loves cuddling in the bed and couch, chewing ice cubes,
chewing bones, playing with her rope, Frisbee, and most of all her tennis
ball. She can play for hours with the tennis ball. She loves to go for a walk
every morning to get her day started and loves to sleep the day away until it
is playtime again. She is a great guard dog and doesn't let anyone pass
without letting them know that she owns the block.
She gets along well with other dogs, but she doesn't know her size sometimes
and can play a little rough with her little friend, a Jack Russell terrier.
She will play the dominant and submissive role depending on the dogs she is
playing with in the yard. She comes when called and knows when I say it is
"time to go to work" that it is time for her to get in the crate and get one
of the many treats she loves to eat. She will even go in the crate when I
brush my teeth or spray on cologne before leaving which is cute.
Xena has successfully passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen test and is in the
process of continuing her training. She loves going on car rides to training,
Petsmart, and anywhere else just so she can stick her head out the window and
enjoy the wind in her face. She absolutely loves the snow and can't get
enough of it. In the summer you can find her relaxing in a shady spot
enjoying the breeze.
Most recently we added another purebred male GSD puppy named Jax to the
family. Xena has accepted him in even though she is constantly getting
jealous over our affection and their fixation on playing with the same toy.
It has seemed to add new energy to her and has brought back her appetite
which had become quite picky before the puppy arrived.
It is quite a joy to come home to her and to know that she will have
unconditional love for you and can brighten up your day no matter how awful
it may have been. It has truly been a blessing to have the both of them in our lives.
