Chloe
is fighting to survive against impossible odds having been
diagnosed with a terminal, congenital disorder at 4.5 months old called
renal dysplasia. At only 4.5 months and six pounds, for multiple lab results
and an ultrasound exam to be as abnormal as hers is unconscionable, as
is the reality that this illness has but one hope: kidney transplant.
After talking with leading specialists in the field we have decided to
created ChloeElizabeth.org to raise awareness about renal dysplasia,
congenital (something one is born with) disease, improper breeding and
puppy-rearing conditions, and in the hopes someone will step forward and
help support our quest for a donor. I also hope this page can help
others find donors or simply bring warmth and joy through her photo
collection of warm memories.
While her daily management can take its toll on caregivers as well as
dogs, Chloe Elizabeth is as spunky, feisty, spirited, affectionate,
funny, loving, and adorable as can be. She prefers human beings to toys
any second of any day, thrives on human connection, and gives comfort
and joy to all she meets. It is in her spirit and inherent ability to
help and better others that her facebook page, and
website were created as well as in honor of all the people she may never
get to comfort with her charm, warmth, intellectual and emotional
acuity, and genuine sweetness. She is an inspiration and this disease
(as does canine renal failure in general), warrants further attention,
more effective treatments and better outcomes.
This video captures Chloe's
spirit. It's 52 seconds of hysterical laughter yet you'd never know
she was undergoing four hours of lab tests at the vet. It's inspiring,
funny, and upbeat (nothing depressing).
