I
had a chihuahua before Widget, his name was Chunk. He came from a home that
neglected to watch him, they allowed him to chew and eat anything he wanted
... and because of this, he developed intestinal problems and lacerations
inside. I took him in, hoping I could help him. I loved him instantly, he was
my little shadow and went with me everywhere.
His condition declined rapidly, and I could not fund the couple grand it
would've taken for testing, let alone a cure for his ailments. I was
devastated, hurt, and felt I was failing him. I spent days searching for
someone who could afford to take care of him, who had the finances. Chunk now
lives with a married couple who have no kids, and have the money to give him
the expensive veterinary treatment he needs. So for that, I am thankful. But
at the same time, I was hurt. I miss him very much, was depressed about it. I
spent days just moping and being a debbie downer.
Then Mom found me this cutie, trying to help brighten me up and take my mind
off Chunk. We drove almost two hours to get him. He is a mere two pounds right
now, is only twelve weeks old so he has some growing left to do (thankfully, way
too tiny!).
He is a purebred Chihuahua just like Chunk, with long hair. Though no one can
ever replace Chunk in my heart, Widget takes the sting away at least a
little, and keeps my mind occupied even while I work on commissions. Yes, not
even work was enough to keep me from missing Chunk. And I still do. I don't
know if I'll ever really get over him.
Widget is named after the little accessories/software you can have on your
computers and smartphones. Yes, I am that much a dork. We call him
"Widgie!!!" and he gets all excited and wiggly. So adorable. Widget doesn't
know any tricks yet, he's too young and has the attention span of a goldfish!
He's very excitable, very affectionate. He doesn't know a stranger, and isn't
shy about meeting new people.
Thank you to all that helped me financially with Chunk, I wouldn't have been
able to keep him as long as I did without your support! You guys rock!! And
Widget, although he is American dog and lives here in Indiana, knows
chihuahuas are from Mexico, and wants to wish everyone a happy Cinco de Mayo!
