Lily
is especially neurotic, even for a border collie. She was born in a
snow cave; she was one of two puppies that lived from a litter of six,
and she didn't see a human being until she was four months old. Although she was
easily housebroken and leash-trained, she remains very skittish. She will be three years old in December.
Shortly after we adopted her, we embarked on a cross-country camping
trip. Every time she was startled by a loud noise, she'd tug the leash
out of our hands and plunge blindly forward. By the end of the trip,
her nickname had become the Chattanooga Kamikaze Cliff-diving Chicken
Corn Dog. Hard to fit on a tag, so we stick with Lily unless we
are really upset with her ... but as you can tell, it is hard to stay upset at her for very long anyway, I mean, look at those sad eyes! We love her just as she is!
