This
is Dante, he's my six-year-old Rough Collie boy. I bought him 2008
as a puppy from local breeder. I already had a dog, large
Munsterlander named Speedy, but he lived at my family's home and was
getting old. I had wanted to get a puppy for quite a while.
Originally I had planned to call him Toivo (which is Finnish and means
Hope) but I started to call him Dante, and it seemed to suit him well.
He doesn't look like his name could be Toivo!
He probably isn't the smartest dog in the world, but he does know a
few tricks. Dying and bowing are probably his best ones. He obeys
people other than me selectively, some woman once wanted him to sit
down, but he didn't do it until I told him to. And that's actually
pretty good, I don't like it when people I don't know try to make him do stuff.
He gets along well with most dogs, although he has an issue with
German Shepherds. He was attacked by one when he was a puppy, so he
has trust issues towards them. He is also extremely friendly towards
people and my other pets. I used to have a rat that climbed all over
him and hitched a ride to other rooms in my apartment and he did
nothing to him.
Dante doesn't care about toys, he has some but he doesn't play with
them, he's been like that ever since he was a puppy, he likes to play
with sticks more. He also doesn't care for swimming, I have taken him
to a dog beach but no matter how many other dogs want him to go in
water with them, he stays at shore. He does know how to swim however,
but just prefers staying out of the water all together, even after it
has rained, he'd rather walk around puddles than through them.
