Wello, I'm Ginger,
It has been a long, hard winter, but it is finally spring! This is the time
for a new beginning. Although I'm a Senior dog, it sure is a new beginning
for me. No one knows my exact age, one paper said eight years, and another
claimed I'm five. Recently I was fostered by a rescue group called "A New
Leash on Life". They often go to the local animal shelter and pull dogs that
are scheduled to be euthanized. We get put in foster homes or stay at their
place until we find a forever home. They are a no kill shelter.
Some people don't want older dogs, so I was with ANLoL for a long time.
Actually, age has it's advantages. I am totally housebroken. I don't chew up
things I shouldn't. And I'm not hyper like a puppy can be.
One day, my "Senior" Mom was looking for an older dog. She found me on
Petfinder. So she called her friend, Laura to arrange the adoption. At first
I was concerned. My life has not been easy. My ears are all chewed up from
other foster dogs fighting with me. When Laura brought me to my forever home,
my fears subsided. Mom had a big fenced in yard. She has other little dogs to
play with. There was plenty of food and my very own soft pillow.
I learn things quickly, like my new name. Mom wanted me to totally start over
from my past life. She changed my name from Marigold to Ginger. I learned
that right away, and come when she calls, better than her other pups. Mom
says I fit right in. Bear and Peanut and I enjoy our daily walk together, and
get along fine.
My new beginning started in February and Mom assured me it will be "till death do us part." Life is now good.
