What
I believe makes my dog special is that she's the most goofiest dog you
could meet. Her tail is almost always wagging, she's learned some things
pretty quickly (despite having to work on things still) and she's literally
like my daughter. I get extremely defensive and protective over her sometimes.
Another thing still amazes me. Before we had gotten her - like months before
- I was feeling down and it got to the point where I felt like a complete
five-year-old and wanted to cry my eyes out. My father walked into my room
one day, and told me "If you really want a German Shepherd, you have to stay
positive. Acknowledge the negativity, but push it away. It eventually dies
because it has nothing to feed off of. God gave us this one gift to us, and
that gift is to have the universe please you. Prove to the universe that you
want this dog - picture what you want it to look like in your mind, in detail
- and as long as your positive, it'll be yours."
We then got Leia, and ever since Leia has been growing up, her markings have
been showing more and settling into what she'll look like (since fur patterns
change in this breed). I've been extremely amazed to find she looks more and
more like exactly what I wanted my dog to look like. She is also how I wanted
my dog to act and be. I didn't want the guard dog or the "leave me alone, I'm
a loner" dog. I wanted the friendly, happy dog who may make mistakes but will
constantly be happy to the point it rubs off on you. I honestly don't have
that big of a bond with her quite yet, but I'm sure if I am positive enough,
we'll be like two peas in a pod, night and day, yin and yang.
This is why Leia, my German Shepherd, is so special to me. She makes me happy every day.
