One
Sunday morning while watching the news, Pets In Need was showing dogs
that were available for adoption and I saw Arthur. He was adorable sitting on
the lady's lap while being introduced to the public. She stated he had
received a complete make-over! Although we weren't considering adopting a
dog, I couldn't stop thinking of Arthur. After several days passed, I checked
their website and didn't see Arthur listed and I was bummed. My daughter
checked the website again and there he was!
I rushed to Pets in Need and fell in love with Arthur immediately! Arthur had
lived the majority of his life in shelters. He was once adopted and became
blind due to cataract disease, which is common in poodles. The family didn't
want to care for a blind dog and returned him to the shelter where he was
eventually put on the euthanize list.
Pets In Need rescued him and another non-profit organization funded his
cataract removal surgery and he regained his sight. Soon thereafter I saw him
on TV! Arthur is a very well-behaved dog with a mellow and kind disposition.
We put him on a prescribed diet per his veterinarian's instruction and
started him on an active routine. Everyone says Arthur is very blessed that
we adopted him, but we think we are the blessed ones to have Arthur as part
of our lives.
We're now reaching eighteen months of having Arthur, and and he's truly a blessing!
It's very rare that an adopted dog is brought home already house trained.
It was hardly no effort to train him to listen to us and since he's somewhat
an older dog, he's not hyper. Actually, he rarely barks, but he picked up
when to bark from other dogs. He started playing with no toys and wasn't that
active, now he's playful and does a light run during walks. It's great to see
a joyous attitude sparked inside of him!
