Dixie
is gentle, lovable, full of personality, a beauty and smart!
I was told by my Vet that she is a mix of Dachshund and Standard Yorkie. She
is the sweetest, most gentle dog I have ever owned. She considered herself to
be the protector of my youngest grandchildren. When I put them down for naps
she would stay near them on the bed and come get me if they awoke. She can
also climb trees. She chases the squirrels up our Bradford Pear Trees. She
will shake hands and she is also a great traveling companion.
We have a motor home. We live near Nashville, Tennessee. She has travelled through
several states. She has been on a Mission Trip to the Crow Indian Reservation
and to Glacier National Park, Up Pike's Peak, down through the Rockies,
through New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and back to Tennessee. She has been as
far south as Key West and she has been to the Atlantic Coast at St. Augustine
Beach and she loves to visit Emerald Coast RV Resort in Panama City Beach, Florida.
She loves to be with us at home or where ever we go.
We have a bay window on the street side of our home and if we can't take her
with us, she watches for us there. Since she has a doggie door, she runs out
to greet us before we can even get out of the car. When she was younger she
learned to climb our fence and would be at the car almost before we could get
to it. We had to build a 6' (1.8 m) wood fence for her safety. She has always been
athletic. She loves to cuddle and she loves to be petted. If you stop before
she wants you to, she will grab your arm with her front paws. She is so soft
and silkie that everyone likes to pet her. All her groomers say she is the
best little girl.
We left her at Creature Comfort Kennel once in order to take our oldest
grandson (age thirteen) on a tour of Niagara Falls and New York city the week of July 4th.
She was in a suite with half walls but she climbed out and went visiting.
They sent me an e-mail telling me they had to move her to a safer area. I am
sure she just got lonesome. She loves my husband and my sons, in fact she
likes most men. She is simply the very best dog!
