This is our wonderful Lab mixed with some kind of herder hellion, Dottie a.k.a. Dottles. We adopted Dottie at six weeks from a fabulous local no-kill shelter called Austin Pets Alive! We'd already adopted one terrific dog from APA, so when it came time to get a second dog, that was the first place we went! Dottie is an amazing bundle of sweetness, brains, hilarity and toughness. She wakes me up every morning by tackling me in bed, rolling around on her back (wildly kicking we call her Little Cockroach when she does this) before diving under the covers to lick our toes.
She loves splashing in the pool, attacking her big brother and bouncing across the yard like some sort of demented bunny to go yap at the white-tail deer who like to spend the night in the neighbor's yard.
Dottie is a surprisingly complex dog; extremely intelligent/sensitive, full of humor, a big fifty-pound baby who just wants to cuddle and a goofball who rushes at you at top speed to knock you over or hop up and punch you. We couldn't love our little attack bear-otter any more.
