We got Juka about a month ago, from a woman who saves dogs from certain death/kill shelters in Romania. He was found, together with his 2 sisters and brother in someone's backyard, dumped there without their mother. It is lucky this happened because many Romanian dogs suffer even worse fates.
When he was 3 months old he, together with many other dogs got to make a long trip to Belgium/The Netherlands. After a long journey he finally had a home.
Sadly not long after he had begun staying with us, he got sick. At first we thought is was maybe because of stress, the new situation or just needing to get used to his new food. Sadly a few days later it only got worse, we went to the vet and we were told Juka had PARVO (A virus that kills many puppies, especially small and already thin ones). That day he got several shots, antibiotics, special food and medicine that would prevent him from getting dehydrated.
But aside from that we could only hope. Juka was sick, really thin (1.4 kg /3 pounds) and a small dog. Even the vet did not see much hope in the situation. But in a difference comparable to night and day, Juka improved! Overnight he stopped puking, not much later his stool got normal again and Juka started eating again. About a day later you would have never guessed he had ever been sick at all.
What makes Juka special? He survived being both dumped and the parvo virus. He is a real fighter. And we love him!
