Cote came into my life when he was three months old. He came into the
shelter I volunteered at as a stray and was completely feral. He would
screech when someone tried to touch him or he would dart and hide. I sat
in the yard with him for an hour until he finally came and laid on my
lap, however he still wouldn't let me touch him.
He went to foster for about a week before I went to go take him to an
adoption day. While there he cowed from every person who walked by him,
ending up under my leg the first hour of the day. When he finally
crawled into my lap to escape the people, I decided he was mine. He went
home with me after that and after a week we were inseparable. He and I
have since continued our strong bond. If I stand, he is ready to go, if
I am coming home, he will know before I am even home (often driving his
puppy-sitter crazy), and he has also become my emotional support dog as
he knows my emotions more than even I do sometimes. Cote is also
currently going to school to be a therapy dog as he adores kids of any
species.
For his "All Anerican" pictures, Cote was at the 4th of July Parade last
year and the 4th of July Coaster Races. The one with the glasses is the
parade, the other is the coasters.
Cote and I live in Arizona; he definitely blends with the desert sand
here! He is very vocal, and has to yip when I get home to let me know he
missed me. He will also howl with me and on occasion will talk back to
me and then turn it into a game. He loves running and hiking but
absolutely hates bath time and will look at me pitifully the entire time,
but loves playing in rivers and lakes. I love him very much, quirks and
all!
